About

Why was Symvolí needed?

Symvolí Marketing began operations in April 2017.

This Marketing Consultancy was the necessary response to the following questions:

  • "How is Marketing conducted in Anguilla?"

  • "How many trained Marketers operate in Anguilla?"

  • “Who does Market Research?"

  • "Who is training people to become Marketers?"

The initial belief was to fill the gap in the Anguillian market with holistic, data-filled, innovative and productive Marketing. This is what Symvolí has become known for. As a foundational goal, Symvolí set out to eradicate common misconceptions about Marketing. As a result of these misconceptions, we continually state that:

  • Marketing is NOT sales

  • Marketing is NOT Facebook

  • Marketing is NOT easy

  • Marketing is NOT quick

  • Marketing is NOT the same as Advertising

For those of us advocating for the real intent of Marketing to be understood, it can be a really frustrating task to combat/correct the growing amount of fraudulent activities.

Decór

A Humble Beginning indeed

Symvolí began with little furniture, no stereo system, no white board and no television in its relatively small office space. However, the passion to comprehend and transform a client’s business was and still to this day, very strong.

Our decór was purposefully designed to convey the principles of Ambiance Marketing. All colours, the Apple Cinnamon plug-in fragrance, eventual music and various types of ergonomic chairs provide a welcome to all visitors and clients. We went a bit further to include a children’s corner outfitted with child seats, a table, Alphabet mat and more (see pictures below). This was done to support clients unable to secure a babysitter and it has worked effectively.

Then Irma happened

Hurricane Irma devastated Anguila, St Martin/Maarten and other countries of the Greater Antilles in September 2017. Many in Anguilla saw devastation on a scale never seen before - electricity poles, buildings, roofs and vehicles all destroyed. Included in this unprecedented destruction was the office of Symvolí Marketing. It seem so unfair. Just when the office began to look incredible… BOOM! Irma hits! I remember experiencing tremendous shock when I visited the office. Thankfully, the rebuilding process didn’t take long. The office reopened in February 2018. Have look at the pictures.

Covid-19

This deadly pandemic impacted Anguilla just as it did the rest of the world. Fortunately, its impact was not as deadly. However, due to the lengthy period of the inevitable and necessary shut down, business were forced to adapt to the new reality in an attempt to survive. Layoffs impacted many families.

Given that business operations became limited island-wide, Symvolí lost potential revenue generating developmental opportunities. Not only were these opportunities gone, outstanding revenue became difficult to recoup.
